Violin Program
The violin program under the direction of Mrs. Lori Franke has about 50 students enrolled, K-5th grade. Each is taught in a private or semi-private lesson once a week. All of the students gather once a week in a group class situation according to their levels.
The students in the program may continue in the lessons for as long as they attend ADB.
All children are given an equal chance , and the ones not selected are placed on a waiting list.
The students are instructed in the Suzuki Method, or Mother Tongue, which follows the philosophy that every child can learn and that talent is not inborn. At first the students listen t o a recording of the music which they are learning, and they learn to play by ear. As students advance in techniques, note reading skills are taught. Most children advance rapidly through positive reinforcement, games and fun!
Harvest Festival and Carnival
Each year, ADB hosts a Harvest Festival and Carnival the proceeds of which benefit the Arts at ADB - specifically the Violin Program and the ADB
Performance Group.
This year once again our Violin and Performance Group is hosting the Harvest Festival on October 29th. Harvest Festival is one of the main fundraisers for the Performing Arts at ADB. We are looking for parent volunteers to manage food, craft and games booths. This festival work will satisfy some of the required 2 volunteer hours per month for Performance Group. Please contact Katie Larsen (X8711) or Lisa Andrade of the ADB Parent Club at ADB to sign up as a volunteer.
